Here we are at number 23 of the Craft Barn's quotes & lyrics challenge. The words to choose from were journey and friendship and the choice was made easy for me when I remembered I had a Sizzix die of the word journey. I decided to do a song but it was surprisingly hard to find a suitable song I did think of 'Sentimental Journey' but couldn't figure out a way to put it onto paper. I finally found a C&W song by Jake Owen called 'Journey of your life' about a grandfather's advice to his grandson. It has the line:
'You need an angel flying by your side on the journey of your life'
I started by stamping the ISC face in Archival sepia and masking it. Then I lightly applied some weathered wood and broken china DIs with a brayer. When dry I used a Memory Box alpha stencil over the page in Adirondack mushroom (the letters of the story). Then the following stamps:
Christine Adolph flower cube in Adirondack terracotta (nature)
Banana Frog heart in Barn Door DI (love)
Banana Frog star in Adirondack butterscotch (fame)
Katzelkraft splats in Archival grape (mistakes)
Katzelkraft music in Adirondack lake mist (music)
The black lines were applied with a credit card and black acrylic paint (keeping to the straight and narrow) and some white acrylic splodged dots (I mess up sometimes).
While all this was drying I stamped moon girl by Stampotique and embossed her in white. Her wings were given some shimmer with Wink of Stella and raised with foam pads.
'Journey' was cut with my Sizzix die and stuck onto some paper from MME's Cut & Paste Charm range which picked up the colours in my background. The remaining text was printed off the computer and I sketched around lines. I removed the mask from my central image and coloured her in with watercolour and coloursoft pencils.
Am in Love with both your quote and your page! A fantastic interpretation, gorgeous colours and Moon Girl looking awesome. So much meaning in your ArT, thank you for such beautiful inspiration:-) xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous entry!! the die cut is perfect and makes a great focal point of the page. (I bought some of the new DecoArt media misters that I've seen Andy Skinner use on projects - they came yesterday- no idea when I'll get to play with them though!)
ReplyDeleteLove all the elements to you page, and that is a fabulous quote.
ReplyDeleteLoving the subtle colour scheme you've used and that quote is brilliant. Sometimes you can find a great quote but no vision springs to mind. This one you've done brilliantly.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great design! You mixed several components in a a gorgeous way! Brilliant page.
ReplyDeleteA stunning card, love all the elements you have incorporated in your card. Moon Girl looks quite at home on your card.
ReplyDeleteI love this card. It's really stunning and the journey die is brilliant :)
ReplyDeletethat face stamp is out of this world. The lines with the credit card are a fantastic add to the page.
ReplyDeleteYes it's from the Friendship set by Innovative Stamp Creations. I saw it years ago on a blog and had to have it - the face is very haunting isn't it? If I remember correctly it was hard to get hold of in the UK but Jo Capper Sandon (who was on the DT for a while) managed to find a retailer here.
DeleteFabulous page, love the face too but the background is equally good!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with how you treated your background. It is stunning. Not to take anything away from the lovely girl or the rest of it, including the lyrics, but that background just made my heart go pitter patter. It made your "Journey" even more special.
ReplyDeletethat is very nice... i join the others in liking the background especially :) jx
