UK Stampers ATC Swap - C for Cat

Last year I bought a cat die so my choice of a C word was a no-brainer. However my cat die was too big to fit on an ATC so I die cut some (long neglected) shrink plastic in black and opaque to make some ATC friendly cats. I sponged a cloudy sky and some ground for them to walk on. All my tree stamps seemed too large for the scene so I die cut some fir trees from a Memory Box landscape die and added them. The grass is a Clearly Besotted die and the title (I couldn't resist the play on words) is cut from a Sizzix alphabet called Hunky Dory.

UK Stampers ATC Swap - C for Chaos

I have had this Nietzsche quote stamp for a long time and it was just begging to be used for the letter C. I heat embossed it in white onto some marbled paper - when marbling the colours always look a jumbled mess but something beautiful usually emerges. I added some die cut stars to embellish.

Dictionary Challenge - F

This fortnight's letter for the Dictionary Challenge on the Craft Barn blog is F. The added twist is that there has to be a heart somewhere on the page. Flicking through the dictionary the word feline caught my eye so I went along with it. I had fun with this page which unusually for me has no stamping on it at all. My background is sponged blue acrylic paint and gathered twigs DI. I used the following dies:
Cat - Cottage Cutz
Grass - Clearly Besotted
Fence - Sizzix Originals
Trees - X Cut
Hearts - Mama Elephant
I added the hearts to the fence because it reminded me of the little picket fences you see sometimes with cut out heart shapes.
Thanks for all your kind comments last week I look forward to seeing your entries this week.

Page Pebbles Revisited

I've been following a new series on Carolyn Dube's blog called 'Let's Play'. I love her style of colourful art but find it hard to be as relaxed as she is when creating. I'm hoping that her prompts will encourage me to 'go with the flow' more and not feel worried that I'm going to ruin something. In one of her recent videos she decided to use something that she hadn't used in a long time and made some word embellishments with  page pebbles. I had some ancient dome stickers by Papermania which were only fit for the bin, they had lost their stickiness in parts and curled up around the edges. They had survived a cull or two because I felt I could do something with them but I decided to admit defeat and throw them out. However I did find a part used sheet of Making Memories page pebbles which were altogether more substantial and although they had yellowed over time they were still sticky and solid.
You can watch Carolyn's video here.
My pebbles were tiny @ 2cm x 1cm but I found some suitable word stamps. The 4 pebbles on the right had words stamped on the paper they are sitting on in the pic above (from DCWV Tie-Dyed Stack). Because the paper has orange/yellow tones the yellowing pebbles blended in nicely. For the three pebbles on the left I used a scrap from a background page I had made for one of Carolyn's previous challenges (which I used here ). The yellow pebbles toned down the vibrant pinks and greens but they still look ok. I'm pleased because I finally managed to chuck out something that I was never going to use again and also I have made something with the remaining pebbles that I will use on a scrapbook page or a card.

Memory Box Challenge - February

This month's challenge on the Memory Box blog is titled 'Tickled Pink'. I love the combination of pink and green especially cerise or shocking pink and lime green but as we slowly move towards spring I'm in a more pastel frame of mind. The delicate details of the Memory Box flower dies appeal to me so I decided to use this Frangia Bouquet die which is so dainty but cuts beautifully. I cut it from white card and pink paper, painted the stems and leaves and paper pieced the blooms. Continuing with my theme this year of using what I have, I found 2 co-ordinating patterned papers and covered the front of a card blank with them. The sentiment by Paula Pascual reads 'May your day be filled with flowers' and is stamped in Brilliance pearlescent lime and raised on foam pads.

UK Stampers ATC Swap - C for Cherish

Continuing our progression through the alphabet this month the letter for the UK Stampers ATC swap is C. I felt this mother and child stamp by Sunday International fitted my chosen word. I used some DIs and a Hampton Arts crackle stamp for the background and embellished with some die cut sequins from a Mama Elephant die. The word is a stamp I had made several years ago. I felt it needed a bit of colour so I added some punched photo corners.
