Tim Holtz Tag - July

This month's tag on Tim Holtz's blog has proved to be yet another challenge! I wasn't really inspired by the 4th of July theme so I decided to go in my own direction. I didn't have any canned air so I improvised with a Blitzer (a spongy, puffy thing you use to get a sort of airbrushed effect with pens). I had the sailboat blue & watermelon inks that he used but only had gold mixative (& a bit of an odd, mouldy looking gold at that). Instead of Independence Day I decided to focus on something closer to home so I used my Scottish Border Stamp image of Big Ben (a pretty iconic London structure) and used the slogan 'reach for the stars' to give my version of  the Olympic motto of  'citius, altius, fortius' with the Xcut numerals '2012'. The image was mounted onto blue & red card and the edges were distressed. I didn't have any red baker's twine so I made my own with plain twine and added some red chequered ribbon. A couple of diecut & embossed shapes replaced the ideology pieces. Well 7 months in and I'm still managing to hang in there - quite an achievement!

UKS Twinchie Swap July 2012

I'm trying to catch up with my usual monthly swaps and challenges. Bling It On is the challenge on UK Stampers for this month's twinchie swap set by Stitcharama. I made this BG a while ago while playing with alcohol inks. I used wild plum, raspberry & stream. I added a Memory Box chloe stem die and a few sticky gems. I finished it with a scribbled frame.

LIM 76

Three is the theme for this week's challenge on the Less Is More blog. I have used
1 - an image (by Crafty Individuals in Brilliance lavender)
2 - a sentiment (by Personal Impressions in Versafine onyx black)
3 - embellishment (3 gems)

LIM 75

Just squeezing this entry in before the new challenge starts tomorrow. This week on the Less Is More blog the theme is gold. I've been away for a few weeks and have missed all you Limettes so much I couldn't let the week end without creating a super-fast entry. The die is a new Memory Box one that I purchased just before I went away, cut on matt gold card and mounted on a pearlescent grey/pewter card blank. The text is by Paula Pascual embossed in gold. That's all folks but I must add that if any of you are complaining about the awful summer in the UK, a continent or two away they are praying for rain and enduring water shortages (& I don't just mean hosepipe bans). See you next week!
