Dictionary Challenge - G

This fortnight's letter for the dictionary challenge on the Craft Barn blog is G. At first I had another word in mind but decided to go for Geisha. I know this is in a very similar style to the R page I did last fortnight but I figured G and R would not be next to each other when the book is bound so it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, besides I wanted to use this gorgeous Stampington stamp. I stamped and masked the image first. My background had to be green (of course), made with a bubble wrap stencil, an oriental text stamp, a small floral motif stamp and a mesh roller. I ripped up some of my precious washi paper (I bought this pack at Kansai airport with my last few yen) to add to the page and flicked some runny gold paint all over. The lady was coloured with Coloursoft pencils and I made a tiny rosette for her hair. I die cut a trellis type embellishment with the same coloured paper to hold the definition and added a few pearl gems.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's G words soon. Sayonara!

  1. The good news is, I KNOW what a Geisha is, so won't be looking her up on the internet (grin). I SO enjoy your art and the way you color your images. This is simply INCREDIBLE.

Mine (G word) is finished, but I haven't had time to post it, so I'll just appreciate your lovely Geisha for the time being.

  13. A beautiful page. The way you have used the washi tape draws ones eye to the very elegant image.

Thank you for your comments on my "g" dictionary challenge entry and pointing me to the Jennifer McQuire tutorial about stamp positioners. I realise now .that it's not the
operator but the design of my stamp positioner that is the problem. The bottom part of the right angle is very long, probably 6 inches so it's difficult to get the acrylic block into the angle without my fingers getting in the way. I'm going to see if I have better
results now using a couple of wood mounted stamps.
