Serendipity Part 2

Yesterday's card was made with the 3rd generation stamped image. Today's quick card is made with the original (1st) stamped image. It is completed with a Sizzix frame and some punched circles with text from Paula Pascual.

Serendipity!

Sometimes things are just meant to be. I have loved this stamp for ages and always associate it with a special crafting friend of mine. This morning I was in town doing my various chores when I popped into the British Heart Foundation charity shop. They had a £1.99 rummage box of rubber stamps and right at the top was this Judikins stamp called Dance of the Butterflies. I am so thrilled to be the owner of this stamp, who would have thought a bit of wood and rubber could create such happiness? I've just been having a little play with it. This image was stamped with Adirondack wild plum and is the 3rd generation image (spritzing with water in between). The background is vaguely inspired by an article by Paula Whittaker in Craft Stamper (Feb 2013). I used Impress lemon yellow with a brayer to lay some colour on the card. The roughly stamped Papermania cogs in the BG are 2nd generation stamped with wild plum. A strip of CI printed paper and a stamped sentiment complete the card.

Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - K

This fortnight's letter on the Craft Barn Alpha Challenge is K. I had a look through the K section for suitable words and came up with king, kiss, knowledge but kimono jumped out at me. I covered both pages with white acrylic paint. I used a trellis screen mask and perfect peach Glimmer Mist as a background on the right hand page and flipped it over to use up the excess mist on the left hand page. The kimono is by Non Sequitur stamped on blue card. I coloured the detail in with coloursoft pencils and Sansodor. The Japanese girl and the BG text are by Simple Expressions stamped in Archival plum. I used a scrap of washi paper to cover a chipboard K and made an obi (belt) for the kimono. I punched a couple of floral motifs from the same washi paper. The DPS was edged with Archival plum and I stamped a Non Sequitur motif in each corner with Impress chartreuse.

LIM 119

A quick CAS card for this week's Less is More challenge which is for a one layer card on a coloured card base. I used some blue Bazzill cardstock and stamped the KTZ image with Versafine onyx black. The image was coloured with coloursoft pencils and Sansodor. I may add a sentiment later as required but at the moment I'll leave it plain.

New Alice Palace Stamps

Well,  new to me but this stamp has been out for a little while. Apart from the fact that I love the images this designer produces I thought this stamp was very useful in that the sentiment could be easily masked and then the speech bubble could contain any sentiment I wanted. As I was in Impress ink and glossy paper mode (see the previous post) I stuck with that using Impress lemon yellow, peony purple and cerulean blue. I added the colour with cut & dry foam so they are far more vibrant than in the previous post. I think these dye inks work perfectly with the quirky images. I stamped the speech bubble and the bird on plain white card, cut them out and added them. I finished with a strip of Crafty Individuals paper and a Memory Box border die. The paper and the stamps can be purchased directly from Crafty Individuals.

UK Stampers Postcard Swap - May

This month's postcard swap on UK Stampers is a free choice which is a big headache for me. I can never decide what to do when there's no theme to focus on - my mind goes all over the place. Fortunately I recently ordered some more yummy Alice Palace stamps from Crafty Individuals and so I decided it would be a good idea to use one of those. Although I don't 'follow' any blogs as such there are many I visit on a regular basis. Efemera Ink is one such blog. I love the wild and wacky things she creates and I have great respect for her use of colour. The idea of using Impress inks on glossy photographic paper  may not originally be hers but that's where I picked it up from.
I stamped the image with Stazon onto glossy photo paper and then used ink dusters to swipe over Impress cerulean blue, spring green and lemon yellow. I coloured in various parts with Sharpies and Staedtler fineliners. I added some speckles in spring green and tore a cloud shape out of scrap paper and brushed over some more blue ink. Foe a touch of dimension (this has to go naked through Royal Mail's delivery system) I added glossy accents on the hearts. The weather has brightened up over here and it's amazing how it makes you yearn to use brighter colours too!

UK Stampers ATC Swap - May

I don't very often make a set of ATCs that are the same but in different colourways so I thought I'd give it a go for this month's swap on UK Stampers the theme of which is 'pen and ink'. I've used the fabulous Katzelkraft invoice stamp in the BG with a Hampton Arts crackle stamp, some ink splatters from KTZ monkey gentleman set and a pen from Clearly Impressed's writing set. The quote is from a stamp I borrowed a while ago from a friend (no idea who makes it). The ink pads used were:
Pink - Impress old rose, cherry pink and peony purple.
Blue - Brilliance sky blue, Impress cerulean blue and Versafine majestic blue.
Green - Impress chartreuse, spring green and emerald.
If you would like to take part in this very friendly swap then pop over to UK Stampers and join in, don't be shy.
