Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - H
The fourth letter for the Craft Barn Alpha Challenge is H. I did want to do House/Home but then I spotted Haiku while leafing through the relevant section of my dictionary and my choice was made. This haiku is one of the most well-known in Japan. It was written in 1686 by Matsuo Basho, a famous haiku poet. I decided to keep to an oriental theme and used some of my beautiful washi paper to make a tiny origami frog and to frame the computer generated texts. The BG is made with a dragonfly stencil, sequin waste and various sprays. I used teardrop shaped gems to give the illusion of a splash in the pond (salty ocean DI). As well as the Japanese script I have given a translation and in the bottom right corner I have written roughly how the poem sounds.
Now that I've finished my entry I can come over and see all the beautiful interpretations of your chosen words.

Brilliantly original word and super page to reflect its origin. It gives a real feel for Japan. BJ

ReplyDeleteClever and I love the splash.
ReplyDeleteGreat pages - love your background and that splash in the pond is so realistic!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent word choice! I participated in a Haiku mug rug swap a while back. It was very fun to see everyone's Haiku poems. Your page illustration is wonderful! I wish I could see your little frog better but I'm sure he's fabulous. Won't he be squashed when the book is closed or many pages turned? Poor little guy. I too love your clever splash as well.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, thank you for your kind comments. You can see the frog more clearly if you click on the image. I had originally made a larger version (he's about 7cm from head to toe) but decided to go for a tiny(@3cm)one because I thought he looked cuter and the Japanese do love to miniaturise things!
DeleteFabulous take on the letter H :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pages:)

Liebster Award
Thank you so much for thinking of my blog in relation to this award - I am truly flattered but I do not wish to accept it. Please don't feel offended but I started this blog in order to participate in challenges and to keep a record of things I made and how I made them. I am happy for people to visit and delighted when they comment but I don't wish my blog to become more than a personal space that I share with a few like-minded people.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous page! I absolutely love the splash but the whole thing is fabulous. I haven't done mine yet, I hope I manage it! xx
