Dictionary Challenge - Y

Only a few more letters remaining in the dictionary challenge on the Craft Barn blog and this fortnight's letter is Y. My brain came up with very little so I resorted to my dictionary which had a very meagre Y section 2 pages of which had been used up with my previous attempt (Y for Year).  Thankfully I found Yashmak which made it possible to use this striking photo image stamp that I have. I bought it in a mixed bag of stamps and have no idea who made it but I love it.
I first thought I would make the background very colourful but I decided that a monochromatic page would allow the beautiful details of the stamp to come through. I brushed Archival teal onto the background and then used it with a Personal Impressions Zendoodles stamp (not my best stamping I know). The rose border is a lovely Sizzix die I just bought from a sale at Countryview Crafts. It arrived today and I just had to try it out. Some gold sequins completed the page.

  3. This is striking. I have two photo type stamps, both rubber and both mounted. I can't get either of them to stamp properly. I've tried everything. Your stamping amazes me!

  4. That is a very dramatic stamp image, so glad you could use it for Y. The result is beautiful.

  5. Thanks for your kind words on my blog and the advice about photo type stamps. I have an old soft mouse pad I use under my stamps, and I actually prefer leaving them on their blocks. I seem to (USUALLY) have much better luck than when I mount them on an acrylic block.

I actually tried sanding the rubber and it still didn't work. I felt like, since only parts of those stamps stamped well, they had not been cut properly or straight. I thought sanding might make them more even, but that didn't happen, either. So, at least for me, sanding didn't help. But I greatly appreciate you taking time to offer advice. I'm definitely not a stamper and probably never will be. BUT, I can take all the help I can get.

  7. A super page and a fabulous image to be able use for the letter "Y". It's stamped perfectly - photo stamps are notoriously difficult to get a good impression.

  10. The stamp and the new die are beautiful, good choice! I don't see any problem with the stamping in the background and it's a lovely page with an interesting (and so far unknown word).
