Rebel Stampers ATC Swap - May Theme 2

No prizes for guessing what the Nursery Rhyme is on this ATC! Yes I know he's supposed to be climbing a water spout but you can imagine that bit. I cut the spider web from silver glittered card with a Tim Holtz mixed media die. I wanted to give the effect of gleaming raindrops on the web. The spider was made by wrapping some thread around a bead and adding wire legs. I also gave him some hole punch eyes. The text is stamped with a peg alpha.

Rebel Stampers ATC Swap - May Theme 1

This month's theme on the Rebel Stampers forum is Nursery Rhymes. I decided to do 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' and had a go at making a galaxy background. I randomly rubbed picked raspberry, mowed lawn and shaded lilac over the ATC blank and then blended black Versafine ink over the top. I splattered white acrylic paint over and added some silver punched stars, some clear and silver sequins and a punched circle which I shaded slightly to represent a planet. The text was stamped with some peg alphas.

Rebel Stampers ATC Swap - May Technique 2

For my second ATC for this month's technique 'Stencil It' swap on the Rebel Stampers forum I decided to use stencils in different ways. I made the background by smooshing rusty hinge, peacock feathers, peeled paint and walnut stain onto a craft sheet, spritzing with water and rubbing the ATC blank into it. I also dabbed a stencil into the inks and rubbed it onto the blank. Secondly I used a flourish stencil with a marker pen and finally I added texture paste through a TH clocks stencil. I defined the clocks stencil by following the outline with a pencil. The phrase is by Paper Artsy and the small word pebble is one that I made ages ago.

Rebel Stampers ATC Swap - May Technique 1

It's been many months since I've joined in on an ATC swap. This month on the Rebel Stampers forum the technique is 'Stencil It'. I've kept my first ATC very basic and used texture paste through a TH flourish stencil. Once dry, I coloured the raised parts with DIs and added a quotation by Paper Artsy in Versafine smoky grey in keeping with the soft tones. Some washi tape and gems finished the ATC.

Butterfly Face

Here's another card for a crafting friend. The background was a piece of card that I had used to mop up some excess DIs from a craft sheet. I had then used the sequin waste stamp from a Christine Adolph cube. I decided to add some background text from Paper Artsy in Versafine smoky grey. The main image is called dance of the butterflies. I added some gems and a spare diecut leaf which I stamped with the sentiment. The card base is kraft card.

Using Those Bits

While sorting through the piles of bits kept for another day I found this Crafty Individuals image stamped on a DI background and a strip of card in similar tones which had been stencilled and inked. I thought the 2 together would make a quick card. I stamped the seagull again on white card, cut it out and mounted it on foam pads. Some co-ordinating gems finished the card which I am sending to a crafting friend for her birthday.

I've been quiet but busy

Although I haven't posted for a couple of weeks I have been busy craft-wise. During the re-decoration I discovered lots of stuff that I hadn't used in ages and to be honest had completely forgotten about. My style has changed somewhat in that time so these are not really products I would normally reach for now. I could have given a lot away to my local charity shop but I thought a better idea would be to make up some cards and donate them to be sold. There's still a lot more to go but I have an initial batch of @20 cards - some 3D decoupage, some embossed, some with vellum flower prints. I've tried to use some of the older card blanks as well. The top card you can see on the right is an old pearlescent card blank, embossed with a 3D folder with a vellum flower print. I've added sentiments to some and left others blank. I'm slowly making a dent in my old products and it's been quite nice putting things together.

A Bargain from Poundland

I bought this canvas from Poundland yesterday on sale for 50p. It's @20cm/8" in size and I thought it would look nice in my new room. Last night I decided to add a few extra bits to personalise it.

Stamping directly onto the canvas was tricky so I only stamped the quotation which is by Paper Artsy. The diecuts are from TH wildflowers set. The butterflies are a magazine freebie and were stamped, coloured and cut out. The word 'Bloom' was cut from kraft card with the Sizzix brush letters die. It didn't have the impact I wanted so I coloured them in with a brown alcohol marker and gave the bottom halves of the letters a second layer of colour for a two-tone effect. I then gave the letters a couple of coats of Wink of Stella for a nice sparkle, hard to capture in a pic but this gives you an idea.

I'm very pleased with my bargain purchase and will be hanging it up shortly.
