Dictionary Challenge - Z

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of a zip die must use it when the letter of the fortnight for the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge is 'Z'. I also have a zebra stamp but I used that for the previous alphabet challenge so it was a no-brainer. The die in question is by Sizzix and I cut it twice to get the metallic effect of the teeth and pull. The die wasn't long enough so I had to do a bit of cobbling together (technical term). The background is Tim Holtz's knit stencil with ripe persimmon, dusty concord and cracked pistachio brushed through. The stencil wasn't wide enough so further cobbling together was required. I added some zigzag paper in the opening of the zip and the definition.
Aaagh!!! Just realised I've forgotten the pearl! Watch this space...
I totally forgot the twist which was to have a pearl on the page so here is version 2 with 3 pearl buttons on the top peeking out from under the zippered woolly.

  1. Nicely put together. Great stenciling job as it really looks like a sweater.

  3. OK, great minds think alike, but, unlike you, I have NO zipper dies. I had to go old school. However, I love how you used the twist. Far better than mine, I must admit! And I was truly impressed with your zipper, too!

  5. I thought about using Zipper (I had a stamp but already used it!) and also forgot the pearl! Love your pretend Christmas Jumper though and the zip looks very realistic.

  8. Oh those pesky little twists that they throw in, but nicely recovered. Love what you did with the stencil.

  9. Yes cobbled together is most definitely a technical term, it is one I use regularly lol. Oh mustn't use lol, apparently grandmothers aren't supposed to use those according to our 11 year old granddaughter!!
Anyway I digress - love your zip and zigzag background paper with the pearls! Great use of the stencil too.

  11. It certainly doesn't look like you did any cobbling! And you would never know the pearls were an after thought either, it all fits so well together!(and I'm always partial to a bit of fairisle, it's nice to see it used for something other than Christmas!) Lou x
