Dictionary Challenge - K
This fortnight's letter on the Craft Barn blog is 'K'. I've had these keyhole embellishments for years. I had used a couple of the keys but the other items had just sat unloved in a drawer. I wanted to create an arrangement rather like a collection of mismatched frames that were so popular in Victorian times (do you know what I mean?). The background was made by swiping Brilliance starlite black over an embossing folder and running it through my Cuttlebug. I then rubbed wild honey, picked raspberry and evergreen bough DI over the embossing.

Oh wow! I would love to have some of those embellishments. These are wonderful. You certainly used that embossing folder to your advantage. Lucky, lucky you!
ReplyDeleteBTW, you are describing the art on my walls, when you told about mismatched frames. I had no idea this practice went back to Victorian times, but I certainly have kept it going in my own home!
I may well be wrong but I just associate those collections of small frames grouped together as being from the Victorian era. They were great ones for lots of knick-knacks and bits and pieces ( I guess you would now call it clutter). I've seen some great examples of unloved corners of a room being enlivened by making a feature of these frames.
DeleteThis is fabulous and such a cool idea! I adore the colours you have used! xxx
ReplyDeleteI had to take a closer look as I wasn't seeing the black ink... What a great technique, it looks fantastic once you've added the other colours and looks so dimensional!
ReplyDeleteA good idea to group the mismatched keyholes on this page, it works and is perfect for your chosen word.
Thank you, Brilliance starlite black is more of a grey so is quite subtle. I didn't really want a strong black.
DeleteLove all the soft colours and textures, and I do love a mismatched arrangement.
ReplyDeleteNice technique for the background, it has a lovely effect. Isn't it great when you can use things that have been lying around forgotten. Keyhole was a great choice for K.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely change to see pastel colours, great technique as well.
ReplyDeleteI just love the background of this, and great that you could use up some old embellishments - that's what I love about this challenge, using my old stash! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. It's such a refreshing change to see keyholes in bright colours instead of the grungy distress look.xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. Love the background and the frame arrangement is so delightful. Hugz
ReplyDeleteA fabulous page. I love the background technique and the colour palette you chose.
