Dictionary Challenge - S
This fortnight's letter for the Craft Barn dictionary challenge is S with the added twist that the page has to have a shell. I have to confess that I was not thrilled with the twist because of all the S words in the dictionary I really did not want to do a sun/sea/sand themed page. I debated making a background with some random shells stamped into it but then I thought of the word 'surf' and a very old Rusty Pickle stamp set that could do with some inking again. The background is a mix of Gelatos and DIs and I did some double and triple embossing to ensure the surfboards looked waxed to perfection. The 'surf' is a lot clearer IRL and was achieved with WOW white puff twinkle embossing powder. I had a pot of tiny shells from which I selected a few to scatter in the sand.
So that's it for this fortnight. If I had had more time I might have attempted something a bit more off beat but... onwards and upwards as they say.

I love your surfing scene! Like you I wasn't thrilled with the twist either. I almost rebelled against it. But my shell is removable. I didn't glue it down. You had such a clever idea with your surf boards standing in the sand.
ReplyDeleteEven if you weren't thrilled with the twist you've managed to produce a super cool page, loving your well waxed surfboards! Lou x
ReplyDeleteThose surfboards are so cool and I love the background - a fab page! xxx
ReplyDeleteYour surfboards look great on the beach!
ReplyDeleteGreat colour - love those tiny shells too.
ReplyDeleteA great piece as usual, love the surf boards! They would go down well here in Cornwall :) Love the tiny shells x
ReplyDeleteI love your project. Surf's up :)
ReplyDeleteI rather like this surfboard scene, it is very summery. You have captured that waxed shiny look on the boards very well.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I definitely didn't care for this twist, but I really like what you did with both your S word and the twist. You made it special, I think.
ReplyDeleteI loved the twist and it really doesn't look as if you struggled with it. Your page is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing is it turned out well and tick all the boxes! I don't surf but I would still go and lie on your lovely beach...
ReplyDeleteClever page I really like your use of words

Great page, I wouldn't have thought of surf and surfboards even though it's my son's hobby as he lives by the sea! xx
ReplyDeleteA great idea to go for surf. A lovely bright page xx
ReplyDeleteThat's cool, great summer feeling.
ReplyDeletelove your surfboards.
ReplyDeleteA great page. I love the way you created the surf and added shadows around the boards.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I have an atc of yours that I received in a FAL swap hosted by Liz many moons ago and you used that stamp. It's a good one for creating summer seaside scenes.
